"I initially approached Jack when i was approaching my 40th birthday, I had eventually realised that my weight was out of control and my general health and well being were beginning to suffer. When I sat down for my consultation, (in April 2010), I reported that my weight had steadily increased over the last nine months and that I was now getting out of breathe when I was walking up stairs. Jack listened to me and reviewed my diet with me before suggesting that we embark on a 12 week programme comprising 3 training sessions per week and a healthy eating plan.

I was surprised to be told to eat more often throughout each day and I was provided with a personalised nutrition plan which contained a selection of foods and an amount of flexibility around meals. My initial training sessions were tiring, but manageable. Although I was very self conscious, all of the staff and members of the gym, both male and female, were friendly and supportive - when all is said and done we all have to start somewhere don’t we?

Throughout the first 8 weeks of the programme, my diet had steadily improved and the exercises had become progressively more taxing, at this stage I had lost 12.5 kgs (or 2 stone in real money !!). I could really feel the difference - the clothes that were too tight two months before were now too large and people were commenting on how well I looked. I also felt significantly more healthy and could bound up those stairs that had previously had me breathless without a problem.

My weight steadily reduced and my training increased in pace and content, (but never lasting more than an hour per session), over the next few months. I began training 4 times a week from the Autumn and by Christmas I had lost a further 16 kgs (2 and a half stone), making 28.5 kgs, (4 and a half stone), in total. At this stage people who I hadn’t seen for a while weren’t recognising me in the street.

From Christmas until June 2011 I lost a further 16 kgs taking my weight loss to 44.5kgs (7 stone!!!!) - at this stage my own family stopped recognising me in the street!!!!

In those 15 months Jack and the staff had guided, supported and educated me into someone who is far more healthy and conscious of what to eat and how to control my eating. Occasionally when I needed a kick in the backside I had received it, which helped me focus and realign my actions. The same goes for both the training and camaradarie of the other members.

At the point of writing this I have now lost 51kgs, (8 stone 3lbs). I have lost 12 inches from my waist, my neck size has reduced by 3 ½ inches, my chest has reduced by 8 inches and is now firm to touch, I have definition throughout my body. For the first time in my life and I feel stronger and more healthy with every day that passes.
